Theony has been teaching art at Westchester Middle School for the last 22 years. Her classes are designed to offer hands-on knowledge on how artworks are creatively put together with methods of using a variety of tools at each grade level. Students read and learn about significant artists, artworks, and important artistic time periods. Through resources, students preview the importance of artwork of the past, present and future. They explore current careers in Art and how they relate to other jobs. Students create and reflect upon their own online art portfolios, participate in the annual art exhibit and ongoing displays and learn the many ways that the arts enrich everyday life.
Theony was awarded the Middle School/Junior High Art Educator of the Year in 2005, and has been awarded 3 ICE awards for art and technology lessons in the past.
